Successful start of our PAT-Forum Webinar Series 2024

Our first PAT-Forum Online Webinar in 2024 took place on February 14th. We were able to recruit Dr. Chad M. Shade, a very experienced process chemist, who shared his valuable PAT experiences with the webinar participants on the subject “Transforming the Chemical Manufacturing Industry through Process Analytical Technology: A Retrospective”. He discussed the application of process analytical technology in the chemical industry and gave interesting insights into its implementation.

Brief Speaker Profile of Dr. Chad M. Shade

Dr. Chad M. Shade is an experienced Process Chemist with a demonstrated history of working in the chemical industry. In his current position as a Global Process Analytical Technology Team Leader at Albemarle Corporation, he manages the global efforts in PAT research and implementation with a focus on multivariate sensors and chemometric methods. 
In 2011, he received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, continuing his education as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Mirkin Research Group at Northwestern University. Chad began his industrial career with PPG, first as an Analytical Spectroscopist and later as a Process Technology Chemist. In those positions, he assumed several roles of increasing responsibility within the Process Analytical Technology (PAT) organization he helped establish – from developing many of the core modeling concepts and equipment designs, to managing the global project portfolio as the subject matter expert.

The PAT-Forum Online Webinar provided the participants with a useful platform to get in touch with experienced specialists and gave them the opportunity to gain valuable insights on the topic of PAT. Looking back, we are very pleased with the high number of participants, as this shows a great interest in process analytical technology in the chemical industry.
