As a key measurement component for its BioPAT® Spectro UV Single-Use Pipe sensor interface for UV spectroscopic concentration measurement of biomolecules, leading biopharmaceutical industry and research partner Sartorius required a complex optical single-use flow cell made of quartz glass. Previous single-use UV sensors available on the market did not meet Sartorius' requirements.

The new Hellma "QCC" manufacturing process, agile project management methods and the high adaptability of Hellma's manufacturing processes made it possible to meet the customer's complex customer-specific requirements, for example with regard to the testing process and traceability. In joint development work, Sartorius and Hellma thus developed a cost-effective flow cell. The use of these precisely manufactured monolithic optics means a massive simplification of the manufacturing process and enables the use of UV spectroscopic methods for this application.
